Falmouth Cornwall 2 star Membly Hall Hotel 29th August - 4th September 2010 Sunday 29th Travel south via the motorway network to Falmouth, which stands on a beautiful shoreline, warmed by the Gulf Stream and protected by the world’s third largest natural harbour. Famous for its beaches and 450 year-old Pendennis Castle, this lovely old town has something for everyone. The Membly Hall Hotel occupies a sea-front position with splendid views across Falmouth Bay, and has a friendly and relaxing atmosphere. (www.memblyhallhotel.co.uk) Monday 30th A scenic drive along the beautiful Mounts Bay with time for coffee at the village of Marazion before continuing to St Ives - where you can choose between walking on sandy beaches and admiring the magnificent coastal scenery, browsing in the quaint town and art shops, or visiting the world famous Tate Art Gallery. Tuesday 31st We call at Lostwithiel, tucked away in the River Fowey valley and known for its antique shops, craft shops and restaurants. In the afternoon we continue to Lanhydrock (N.T.) a magnificent Victorian country house with stunning gatehouse and long gallery, lovely gardens and parkland. (Admission for non NT members approx. £9.00.) If you prefer not to view the house and garden there will be free time in Bodmin. Wednesday 1st Take a cruise up the beautiful River Fal to the city of Truro with time to view its beautiful Cathedral, and walk through the cobbled streets of the city. The river cruise will cost approximately £8.00, if you prefer you can travel to Truro on the coach. Thursday 2nd A full day scenic drive to the beautiful North Cornwall coast calling at the fishing port of Padstow, famous for Rick Stein’s Seafood Restaurant. Friday 3rd Free time to relax on the beach or to explore the town of Falmouth, or take a ferry across to St Mawes. No coach travel. Saturday 4th Return home, departing after a leisurely breakfast.
